Teaching vegetables using ICT integrated lesson

Teaching Vegetables using ICT.
Grade I

My objectives include :
Identify the vegetables after my explanation 
write down at least three two to three names of the vegetables correctly.

Present world belongs to the era of information explosion. With the information edge on hand, the world is getting much competitive. Students are required to develop rigorous digital skills to suit themselves to the multi-faceted world. It is no coincidence that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools form the bulwark of this new age digital literacy. ICTs have been establishing themselves for so long as the futuristic tools of teaching and learning. In addition, ICT has become a polynary and systematic concept in the field of education. ICT integration in education generally means technology-based teaching and learning process that closely relates to the utilization of learning technologies in schools. Due to the fact that students are familiar with technology and they will learn better within technology-based environment, the issue of ICT integration in schools, specifically in the classroom is vital. This is because, the use of technology in education contributes a lot in the pedagogical aspects in which the application of ICT will lead to effective learning with the help and supports from ICT elements and components.

Creation of Materials 

For this lesson, I have used Microsoft PowerPoint presentation using various pictures of vegetables, so that it can attract children’s attention and make them remember the lesson for a long time, it would make children’s learning fun and engaging  also I have changed my Microsoft PowerPoint to a video since children who are audio and visual learners can learn the lesson in an effective way.

In my slide I have used various  interesting pictures of vegetables with  animations and their descriptions. I also have used voice over my lesson so that students can understand the concept clearly, learn the pronunciations of each vegetable.

Usage of the materials 

The materials that I have created can be used in various stages of teaching as a teaching learning materials for like lesson development, as the activity as well as conclusion of the lesson, for lesson development  the presentation can be used as a to deliver the information, for the activity the teacher can use the presentation to make various activities like filling in the blank, quiz, question answers ect..,  as for the use of conclusion the teacher can sum up the lesson by showing the video that I have created. It is an animated teaching learning material for lower primary students to learn about  different vegetables 





 





Activity 

For my activity  I wanted to check my students understanding of the topic so I have given a pictorial representation in which each of them has to tick either yes or no.
