ICT integrated lesson plan

 Topic : weather 

Objectives: 

By the end of this video each child will be able to

  1. Define weather in their own words after the teacher's explanation.

  2. Write the names of weather with correct spelling after doing the first activity. 

  3. Identify daily weather correctly after the discussion.


    Education is no exception. Classroom layouts, teaching methods, ideas about testing y(and so much more) are transforming almost before our eye. Admits his rapid change is a sense of urgency. Educators are striving to transform learning environments to meet changing needs. Tech plays a crucial role, as districts scramble to create “the digital classroom of future” ICT is that one kind of a tool which is very prominent and used by all people, as a communicative tool, constructive tool as well as teaching tool etc..ICT as an teaching tool is a very effective tool which will enable both students and teachers to teach and learn certain lesson lessons using various features of ICT.

    Knowing these advantages I have designed an ICT integrated lesson in the topic “weather”.


    Creation of materials

    For my lesson plan I have firstly used PowerPoint presentation with each slide with the description of weather, types of weather, characteristics etc.. next thing I used various types of colorful pictures related to my topic and place them in appropriate slides, only then I had to record each slide with the description (voice over ) and finally converted it into a video. My lesson will arouse children’s curiosity to learn since, it has many colorful pictures with animations as well as my voice in a form of video.


    Usage of materials.

    Since I have the full lesson plan in form of video with all the characteristics of a good lesson plan , one can teach it as a whole lesson plan, he or she can pause the video when it is necessary for example during the activity and if the students have doubts. This lesson plan can also be used as a summary to the topic weather.

ICT lesson using Camtesia



 Topic: Use of money in Bhutanese farm economy 

Objectives;

By the end of this video, 

1. Write the definition of barter economy correctly after teacher’s explanation.

2. State four ways farmers earn money correctly after the video explanation.

3. Identify at least three important aspects of money in our day to day life appropriately after the classroom after the discussion.

In the 21st century, the century of  technology, it’s very important that children get the various exposure in teaching and learning filed, since children’s learning can be very effective and  as well as children’s curiosity towards learning will be aroused. Transition from traditional teaching (where the teacher always use only chalk and board to teach certain lesson ) to using such kind of videos and ICT integrated lesson will be way effective and easier way to teach.

Creation of materials.

For this lesson firstly I have created a PowerPoint presentation where each slides uses the different types of animations and various pictures which would help students to understand my lesson. Then with the use Camtesia, the video editor which is very popular and effective to edit any type of videos, I uploaded my PowerPoint presentation in the camtesia, then I had to record my video and sound according to each slide, edit every part which I had mistaken and then only upload and save as a new video.

The experience was overwhelming, one really needs to really get accustomed using the software to function swiftly.it is a wonderful way to upgrade and turn away from the traditional style of teaching.

Usage of materials.

The video I have created can be used as a full lesson to teach grade five students since it is made in such a way that it has all characteristics of what a good lesson plan consist. This lesson can be taught in situations like what we are facing right now like in times of pandemic where online learning programs have become a popular form of learning in the times of the Covid -19 pandemic. The possible reasons could be due to unprecedented opportunities for people to get easy access to education and moreover there is a shift in paradigm for the educators to deliver the highest quality of education through various online platforms, similarly ICT has various video conferencing platforms, such as zoom, and webEx are being used heavily to conduct teaching and learning. Like wise ICT provides learning management  system like canvas, and Google classroom are also used for teaching.

So, this lesson can be very effective in such times as well as during normal times to arouse the curiosity of the learners.

2.  What crops do farmers at your village sell for money ?
3. What does your father do to earn money?
4. What are some of the things that’s your parents buy using money.

Teaching vegetables using ICT integrated lesson

Teaching Vegetables using ICT.
Grade I

My objectives include :
Identify the vegetables after my explanation 
write down at least three two to three names of the vegetables correctly.

Present world belongs to the era of information explosion. With the information edge on hand, the world is getting much competitive. Students are required to develop rigorous digital skills to suit themselves to the multi-faceted world. It is no coincidence that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools form the bulwark of this new age digital literacy. ICTs have been establishing themselves for so long as the futuristic tools of teaching and learning. In addition, ICT has become a polynary and systematic concept in the field of education. ICT integration in education generally means technology-based teaching and learning process that closely relates to the utilization of learning technologies in schools. Due to the fact that students are familiar with technology and they will learn better within technology-based environment, the issue of ICT integration in schools, specifically in the classroom is vital. This is because, the use of technology in education contributes a lot in the pedagogical aspects in which the application of ICT will lead to effective learning with the help and supports from ICT elements and components.

Creation of Materials 

For this lesson, I have used Microsoft PowerPoint presentation using various pictures of vegetables, so that it can attract children’s attention and make them remember the lesson for a long time, it would make children’s learning fun and engaging  also I have changed my Microsoft PowerPoint to a video since children who are audio and visual learners can learn the lesson in an effective way.

In my slide I have used various  interesting pictures of vegetables with  animations and their descriptions. I also have used voice over my lesson so that students can understand the concept clearly, learn the pronunciations of each vegetable.

Usage of the materials 

The materials that I have created can be used in various stages of teaching as a teaching learning materials for like lesson development, as the activity as well as conclusion of the lesson, for lesson development  the presentation can be used as a to deliver the information, for the activity the teacher can use the presentation to make various activities like filling in the blank, quiz, question answers ect..,  as for the use of conclusion the teacher can sum up the lesson by showing the video that I have created. It is an animated teaching learning material for lower primary students to learn about  different vegetables 





 





Activity 

For my activity  I wanted to check my students understanding of the topic so I have given a pictorial representation in which each of them has to tick either yes or no.

ICT integrated lesson for grade I



 Hello viewers. 

So I will be writing on the blog for the second time and this time I am writing a kind of reflection on content-based materials which I have designed to teach class I students integrating PowerPoint. The topic that I have chosen this time is  “Preposition”  from grade l. 


To tell where a noun is, or when it is happening, we use prepositions. Place Prepositions Use these prepositions to describe where a noun is: under, on, in, inside, over, at, under.


My main objectives includes :


 1.Define what does preposition means. 

2.Write at least 3 to 4 examples of preposition after my explanation.

3.Use preposition in daily lives.( real-life application).                                                    

 

The lesson that I chose can be taught to students using  Information and Communications Technology (ICT) which gone through innovations and transformed our society that has totally changed the way people think, work, and live. 


Creation of materials 


Now, let me introduce you all to my creation of materials. For my creation of materials, I have used PowerPoint as teaching and learning tools, since power point  can be effective tool to present material in the class room and encourage student learning, it’s easy for students to keep information in their minds if they learn things by using visual tools. It increases memory capacity of the mind. It helps students remember the information for a long time.

  I have created PowerPoint in such a way that it can attract my learners attention . I also have used various animations and colors in my presentation so that I can attract children’s attention. 

For teaching preposition I have used various pictures to make my lesson effective one. 

For every Preposition I have described the content well using the PowerPoint presentation and animations. 

I have even converted my PowerPoint presentation into a video.

 

Usage of the materials 

 

This PowerPoint presentation can be used in lesson development, since it has all the prepositions described well, we can use it for lesson development.

Also as a video, we can use this for the conclusion of our lesson with a video which will help the students to have a meaningful, engaging and interesting conclusion.

Teaching 2D shapes using ICT

ICT integration in lower Primary classroom

Topic; 2D shapes 

Class: 1


Lesson objectives:

By the end of the lesson each child will be able to,

1- Name 2D shapes correctly after the discussion. 

2- Draw at least three to four 2D shapes correctly after teachers explanation.

3- Describe at least two properties of 2D shapes correctly after the discussion.


The everyday lesson where only the teacher teaches with a chalk and duster is not always fun, for teaching to be effective the teacher need to integrate various forms of teaching, using ICT can be one of the best way to teach the students about any topic, so today i am going to blog on how ICT can be used to teach grade one students about the topic 2D shapes.

Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching learning interaction, through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students own smartphones or other devices for learning during class time, and the “flipped classroom” model where students watch lectures at home on the computer and use classroom time for more interactive exercises.

When teachers are digitally literate and trained to use ICT, these approaches can lead to higher order thinking skills, provide creative and individualized options for students to express their understandings, and leave students better prepared to deal with ongoing technological change in society and the workplace.

Creation of the material

To teach about 2D shapes for grade 1 students, I have used PowerPoint presentation have used an animated video with each shape’s description so that it would be effective, as children are young, they are interested in learning through  ICT ,and then  the student’s learning interest would also increase, making them to understand the lesson well, as well as they can remember the concept for a long time.

 It would be of a great lesson for visual learners as they can see the shapes in the power point presentation.

I have made a short power point presentation where I have described each shapes with its characteristics well explained.

I also turned the presentation into a video.

Usage of the materials 

This presentation can be used to introduce the topic of 2D shapes, the teacher can show the video and then go into the lesson development, since the video has a lot of content idea it can also be used in lesson development.

This very presentation can also be used to teach the students with special needs such as visually impaired students or students with autism since I have used various colors and audio, which will help such impaired students. For those students with visual impairment I can use the audio to deliver my lesson and for those students with autism I can use various colors to teach each shape effectively.







 

Activity.

Name of activity: identifying of the shapes

For the activity, I will divide the children in groups, providing them with plastic scissors, papers and glue and a chart paper, for this activity I will paste a chart with names of shapes written on it ,ask my students to firstly read the shapes that I have taught in order and then paste a paper on the board with the shape names written, ask them to cut the A4 size papers with drawn shapes according to the list I give.

Knowing me.

 Introduction.

kuzuzangpola, I am Pema Choden and currently pursuing my degree at Paro College of Education in my final semester. I graduated high school from Gongzim Ugyen Dorji Central school which is in Haa. I am from Haa but my parents are settled here in Paro, and the fact about me is I had no idea I would become a student-teacher of this college because teaching was never what I wanted to pursue, I always wanted to become a journalist but I believe God has better plans for everything.

My hobbies include a lot of things like reading because I believe a book can always be a best friend to everyone, not only does books engage us but also gives us a lot of knowledge and also I am a big fan of the world-known author Nicholas Sparks, I started reading his novel from grade nine and I am still amazed how beautifully he put down his words. I also love reading non-fiction books as well as motivational books. 

Travelling has always been one of my favourites, I love travelling a lot because I like exploring and meeting new people, my dream is to travel the whole world someday hopefully, also, basketball is the one game I love playing, P.S I don't play well, I was not into games during my school days but as I got here in this college my love towards this game became endless, I and my classmate girls also won a lot of trophies for last seven semester, well that's a plus point.

My strengths include getting adjusted to the new environment and making new friends, I can get a lot of friends within no time, I am an outgoing, happy and loud person, and also I am appreciated for my appreciable communication and presentation skills,   I am a self-motivated person as well as a happy girl, I can brighten a lot of people's days, ,    I look forward to doing better things in life, serving the nation and making my parents proud are my only goals. 

Now, that I am in my final semester in this college I am looking forward to appearing for my RCSE examination and becoming a teacher, who can help the little growing souls. I couldn't pursue my dreams of becoming a journalist but I will help my students to pursue theirs. hopefully, by next year this month, I will be serving the nation as a teacher, brightening the days of future leaders. My goal in life is to be a happy teacher.
